Forester and Restoration Specialist (accepting applications now; open until filled)

Help plan and implement sustainable forestry! This position offers independent field and office work, with opportunities to work with our restoration and land stewardship crew. In addition to a few seasons of field experience, applicants should have a forestry degree from a SAF-accredited college, or have taken the necessary coursework to be eligible to be a Wisconsin DNR cooperating forester and Certified MFL Plan Writer.

Got a few years of field experience? This position involves implementing restoration independently or with our crew, project and land management, and direct interaction with landowners and other land managers.

Want to transition from seasonal to full-time restoration work? This is a year-round position with our restoration crew.

Prescribed Fire Specialist (accepting applications now for Spring 2024; open until filled)

Do you have wildland firefighter training? Want to get on some prescribed burns? Join our on-call, as-available burn crew and help get more “good fire” on the landscape. Our fire season is generally October - December and February -May.

Restoration Ecologist (accepting applications now; open until filled)

If you have a solid background in the science and practice of ecological restoration, have graduate training in the sciences, and you’re interested in a mix of restoration planning, project management and field work, this may be the job for you.

2024 Forestry and Restoration Internship (application period closed for 2024 and will reopen in December)

This position is ideal for someone seeking to build their experience in forestry, restoration and land stewardship. Most of the work is outdoors. You’ll learn:

  • Ecological restoration theory and practice

  • Native and non-native plants of Wisconsin

  • Hands-on restoration, land stewardship and forestry skills

  • Business organization and management
